Villagers in Vietnam Move Ancestral Graves for $1.5 Billion Trump Golf Resort Project

Posted by

A controversial Trump-branded luxury development in Vietnam has sparked outrage after villagers were asked to relocate ancestral graves and surrender farmland for the project.

Reports from multiple international media outlets indicate that residents in northern Vietnam are relocating ancestral graves and giving up farmland to make way for a planned $1.5 billion Trump-branded golf resort and luxury residential project in Hung Yen province.

The development, backed by local partners and licensed by the Trump Organization, is expected to include golf courses, luxury villas, and five-star hotels. Villagers have expressed anger over the relocation of family burial sites, which hold deep cultural and spiritual significance in Vietnam. Some residents have also complained that compensation offered for land and grave relocation is too low.

According to reports, thousands of households could be affected by the project, and disputes over land acquisition have delayed progress. Critics argue the project threatens livelihoods in one of Vietnam’s fertile agricultural regions, while supporters say it could boost tourism, investment, and economic development.

It is important to note that reports indicate the Trump Organization is licensing its brand to the project rather than directly funding construction costs, which are being handled by local development partners.

The project remains under development, and disputes regarding compensation, land acquisition, and grave relocations are ongoing. Allegations and criticisms reported by residents have not been fully resolved through legal or administrative processes.
