Today, countries around the world are observing World No Tobacco Day, raising awareness about the dangers of smoking, vaping, and nicotine addiction especially among young people.

Today, May 31, the world is observing World No Tobacco Day, an annual global campaign led by the World Health Organization to highlight the health risks of tobacco use and encourage people to quit smoking and nicotine products.
The theme for 2026 is:
“Unmask the Appeal — Countering Tobacco and Nicotine Addiction”
The campaign focuses on exposing how tobacco and nicotine companies design, market, and promote products to attract young users and create long-term addiction.
According to WHO data, tobacco remains one of the leading preventable causes of death worldwide, contributing to cancers, heart disease, respiratory illnesses, and millions of deaths every year. Health officials are also raising concerns over the growing popularity of vaping and nicotine products among teenagers.
Governments, schools, healthcare organizations, and activists worldwide are using the day to promote awareness campaigns, smoking cessation programs, and stronger tobacco-control measures.
