Australian doctors are increasingly using a groundbreaking treatment that destroys tumors by freezing them into a ball of ice, offering some patients a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgery.

Australia is expanding the use of an advanced cancer treatment known as cryoablation, a procedure that destroys tumors by freezing them to extremely low temperatures.
During the treatment, doctors insert a thin probe into the tumor and use gases such as argon to create an “ice ball” around the cancerous tissue. The freezing process kills the tumor cells, which are then gradually removed by the body’s natural processes.
Unlike conventional surgery, cryoablation typically requires only a small needle-sized insertion, resulting in less pain, reduced recovery times, and fewer complications for many patients.
The technique is already being used for selected cases involving cancers of the kidney, liver, lung, breast, prostate, and other organs. Medical experts say it can be particularly beneficial for patients who are not suitable candidates for major surgery.
Researchers continue to study how cryoablation can be combined with other cancer treatments to improve outcomes and expand its use in oncology.
⚠️ Disclaimer:
Cryoablation is a real and established medical procedure, but it is not suitable for every type of tumor or every patient. Treatment decisions should always be made by qualified healthcare professionals based on individual medical circumstances.
