One of the most remarkable coincidences in Pakistan’s history: two Prime Ministers were assassinated 56 years apart, at the same park, and were taken to the same hospital where doctors were unable to save them.

Pakistan’s history contains a striking and tragic coincidence involving two of its Prime Ministers.
On 16 October 1951, Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, was assassinated while addressing a public gathering at what was then known as Company Bagh in Rawalpindi.
More than five decades later, on 27 December 2007, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated after a political rally at the same location, by then renamed Liaquat Bagh in honor of Liaquat Ali Khan.
In another remarkable parallel, both leaders were rushed to Rawalpindi General Hospital (now known as Benazir Bhutto Hospital), where medical teams were unable to save their lives.
The two assassinations, separated by approximately 56 years, remain among the most significant and tragic events in Pakistan’s political history, continuing to shape discussions about security, democracy, and political leadership in the country.
